Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information ToolsWorld (“we”, “us”, “the site”), available at https://imrbpro.github.io/Toolsworld/, collects when you use it, how that information is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language.
The short version
- The files and text you use with our tools are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to us.
- We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name, email address or phone number to use the tools.
- We show advertising from Google, which uses cookies. You can control personalized advertising (see below).
- A small number of tools fetch live data from third-party services and are labeled “Uses live data”.
1. Files and text you process
Our image, PDF, text, developer and design tools run in your web browser using JavaScript. When you select or drop a file, your browser reads it into memory on your device, processes it there, and lets you download the result. The file is not transmitted to our servers or to any third party, and we cannot see it. When you close or reload the page, the data is cleared from memory.
The optical character recognition (image to text) tool downloads its recognition engine and language data from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr) the first time you use it; your image still stays on your device.
2. Tools that use live data
Some tools cannot work without contacting an outside service. Each one is marked “Uses live data” on its page:
- Currency converter: requests current exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com). Only the currency code is sent.
- What is my IP: asks ipify (api.ipify.org) for your public IP address and ipwho.is for its approximate location. These services necessarily see your IP address.
- Speech to text: uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition. In some browsers, including Google Chrome, the audio is sent to the browser maker’s servers to be transcribed, under that company’s privacy policy.
- YouTube tools: load thumbnail images or embedded players from YouTube (Google).
3. Information stored in your browser
To make the tools more convenient we store some data in your browser’s local storage, on your device only: your light or dark theme choice, recently used tools, preferred currency, and drafts in tools such as the notepad, word counter and invoice generator. This data is never sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for this website.
4. Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show advertisements. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure ad performance.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info (US) or www.youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, through a consent message provided by Google. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown at the bottom of the page when that message is active.
Some pages also show sponsored placements sold directly to advertisers. These are plain images or text with a link, labeled “Sponsored”. They set no cookies and send no information to the advertiser; the advertiser only learns that you arrived if you click, through the link they provided. We count how often each sponsored placement is seen and clicked in Google Analytics, as described below.
5. Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which tools are used, and how pages perform, so we can improve them. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as pages visited, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type. It does not receive the content of files or text you process. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
The live visitor counter and the events we measure
The “online” counter at the top of the page, the “people using this tool now” note and the “Trending right now” list use Google Firebase Realtime Database. While a page is open, your browser keeps a connection to Firebase and stores a temporary entry that contains only the page you are on (for example “word-counter” or “home”) and the time. The entry is deleted automatically when you close the page, or after the page has been in the background for a minute. The first time you use a tool during a browser session, that tool’s public usage count goes up by one; a marker in your browser’s session storage stops it being counted twice and disappears when you close the browser. No cookies, account, name or device identifier are used for this. Like any online service, Firebase receives your IP address when your browser connects; see Privacy and Security in Firebase.
Besides page views, Google Analytics receives events such as which tool you used, the label of a tool button you clicked (for example “Compress”), how many files you chose and their total size, the type of file you downloaded, that you copied or shared a result, the words you typed into our site search, and clicks on tool cards, on our sister product Resumate, on sponsors and on links to other websites (the website’s domain only). It also learns when a sponsor’s banner was on screen, when you switch between light and dark mode, and when a page was not found. These events never contain file names, file contents, the text you enter into a tool or anything that identifies you, and anything that looks like an email address or phone number is removed before it is sent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets no cookies until you give consent through the consent message, and until then receives only limited, cookieless signals.
6. Hosting, fonts and logs
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may record technical information such as your IP address when your browser requests a page, for security and reliability; see the GitHub Privacy Statement. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font files are requested.
7. Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your rights
Because we do not collect personal information through the tools, we usually hold no personal data about you that we could access, correct or delete. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you have rights over personal data held about you by advertising and analytics providers, which you can exercise through the links above. California residents can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising using Google’s Ads Settings or the consent controls described above.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
