How to use the Spin the Wheel
- Type or paste your options into the box, one per line. Names, prizes, chores or restaurants all work.
- Pick a color scheme and spin time, and decide whether winners should be removed automatically.
- Click the wheel, the center button or Spin the wheel. Use Fullscreen to show it on a projector or TV.
- When the winner pops up, close it, remove that entry, or spin again. Your list is remembered on this device.

A wheel that is genuinely fair
A spinning wheel looks random, but on many websites the result is decided by a pseudo-random function and an animation that only approximately matches it. This wheel works the other way around. The moment you spin, it draws the winner using crypto.getRandomValues, the same secure random source your browser uses for encryption, with rejection sampling so that every entry has exactly the same chance. It then picks a random landing point well inside that entry’s slice and calculates a rotation that ends there. The animation is just a way of revealing a result that was fair from the start.
The odds of each entry
Every line in the list is one slice, and every slice has an equal share of the wheel. With 8 entries, each has a 1 in 8 (12.5%) chance. If you want to give someone or something a better chance, add it twice: an entry that appears 3 times in a 10-line list has a 30% chance. Blank lines are ignored, and you can add up to 500 entries, although labels become too small to read on very crowded wheels.
| Entries | Chance per entry | Chance the same entry wins twice in a row |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 50% | 25% |
| 5 | 20% | 4% |
| 10 | 10% | 1% |
| 30 | 3.3% | 0.11% |
Repeats are normal. Each spin is independent, so the wheel has no memory of earlier winners. If you need everyone to be picked exactly once, turn on Remove each winner automatically and keep spinning until the wheel is empty; the order you get is a fair random ordering of the whole list.
Ways people use a picker wheel
- Classrooms: choose who answers next, assign presentation order or pick a reward.
- Giveaways and raffles: paste the entrant list and spin live on a stream or call.
- Meetings: pick who runs stand-up or takes notes this week.
- Everyday decisions: what to eat, which movie to watch, whose turn it is to wash up.
- Games: truth-or-dare prompts, party challenges and team assignments.
Tips for live events
Use Fullscreen and a longer spin time to build suspense, and turn sound on so the audience hears the ticks slow down. Before a giveaway, paste the final list, sort it so viewers can check their names, then shuffle it to mix the order. Keep the results panel visible as a simple record of each draw. If you need a list of numbers rather than names, the Random Number Generator is faster, and for a quick yes-or-no decision the Coin Flip does the job in one tap.
Your entries and results are stored only in this browser’s local storage so they are still there when you return. Nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is the wheel really random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser’s cryptographically secure random generator before the animation starts, and each entry has exactly the same probability. The spin then lands inside the chosen slice.
How do I give one option a better chance?
Add it on more than one line. Each line is its own slice, so an option listed twice has double the chance of an option listed once.
Can I remove a name after it wins?
Yes. Click “Remove from wheel” in the winner pop-up, or turn on automatic removal to run a series of draws until everyone has been picked.
Will my list be saved?
Your entries, settings and recent results are saved in this browser on this device, so they are there next time. They are not uploaded and are not visible to anyone else.
How many entries can the wheel hold?
Up to 500. Text shrinks as slices get narrower, and on very crowded wheels labels are hidden, but the draw stays fair and the winner is always shown in the pop-up.
