What people use a text repeater for

  • Testing software and websites. Developers paste long repeated strings into forms to see how layouts handle overflow, how databases cope with field limits and whether validation messages appear.
  • Templates and placeholders. Repeat a row such as “Name: ____” twenty times to make a sign-up sheet, or repeat a label to fill a page of stickers.
  • Practice sheets. Teachers and parents repeat a word or sentence for spelling and handwriting practice; numbering keeps lines easy to refer to.
  • Messages and fun. A line of 50 heart emoji or a stretched-out “sooo” makes a birthday message stand out.

Choosing a separator

Separator“hi” × 3 givesGood for
New linehi / hi / hi on separate linesLists, practice sheets, test data
Spacehi hi hiMessages, filler sentences
NothinghihihiEmoji rows, long strings for testing
Custom “, ”hi, hi, hiComma-separated values, code arrays

In the custom box, type \n for a line break and \t for a tab, so a separator like ,\n puts each copy on its own line with a comma after it. If your text itself has several lines, the whole block is repeated as a unit.

Numbering copies

Tick Number each copy to put “1. ”, “2. ” and so on before every repetition. Combined with the new line separator this produces a ready numbered list, for example 30 numbered “Day __:” lines for a monthly habit tracker.

Why there is an output limit

Browsers slow down when a text box holds millions of characters, and on phones they can freeze. The result is therefore capped at about one million characters or 100,000 copies, whichever comes first, and the tool tells you when it has reduced your count. That is still far more than any messaging app or social network accepts in a single post, so check platform limits with the Character Counter before pasting.

A word on spam

Sending the same message again and again, or flooding a chat with repeated text, annoys people and can get an account restricted by the platform’s spam filters. Use repetition for testing, documents and the occasional playful message.

For developers

If you only need a repeated string inside code, most languages have it built in: 'ab'.repeat(3) in JavaScript and 'ab' * 3 in Python both give “ababab”. This tool is quicker when you need numbering, separators or a result you can paste straight into another app. For realistic filler text instead of repeats, use the Lorem Ipsum Generator.

Frequently asked questions

How many times can I repeat text?

Up to 100,000 copies or about one million characters in total, whichever comes first. The tool tells you if it had to reduce your count.

How do I put each copy on a new line?

Can I repeat emoji?

Yes. Emoji, symbols and text in any language are repeated exactly as typed, including multi-character emoji such as flags and skin tones.

Can I number each repetition?

Yes. Tick “Number each copy” to add 1., 2., 3. and so on before each one.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The text is repeated in your browser and never leaves your device.
